Railings & Staircases

French balconies and railings

The railings and balustrades start at the window. Six French balcony designs cover full-height windows and French doors: vertical bars, glass infill, or wide 80 x 20 x 2 mm steel profiles, either face-mounted or on stand-off brackets through the insulation. They can also be made in aluminium. For balconies, terraces and steps there are railings with square bars or laminated safety glass, and stair railings raked to the pitch of your flight.

The stairs and access range covers a spiral staircase, a straight staircase and two mezzanine platforms. Both stairs are calculated from your floor-to-floor height, with the tread count and the pitch or rotation worked out from it. The mezzanines add a second level to a workshop, garage, store or high room; stairs and guarding are separate additions, and the structure is specified for the use you describe.

The parts are welded mostly from S235JR structural steel, with powder coating available in any RAL colour. Hot-dip galvanising is standard on some outdoor railings and an option on several others, and your order confirmation states the coating system. For fully exposed stairs, a zinc-primed system is available on request.

What to send

For a French balcony, send the opening width and height, a photo of the facade and what the wall is built from, with the insulation thickness if there is any. For a railing, send the run lengths with a sketch or photo; for stairs, the floor-to-floor height and the space available. Tell us the country of installation and who will use the railing, because guard height and clear gaps are agreed for the location. Anchors are chosen for your wall, slab or stair; whether they are supplied depends on the product.
