The Modern Balcony Railing with Horizontal Bars is a clean, contemporary guard for balconies, terraces and roof decks. Square posts stand on mounting plates and carry a broad flat handrail and horizontal square-section infill that runs from post to post. From a distance it looks light, while the fully welded joints between posts, handrail and infill give it a solid, quiet feel under the hand. What the railing has to carry on your balcony is agreed with you before production.

The square section of the infill casts crisp, even shadow lines that suit modern architecture, flat roofs and large glazing.

Choose your infill spacing

The horizontal bars come in a denser or a more open spacing. Denser gives a more closed, sheltered look; more open keeps the view. As standard the infill is square steel bars 20 x 20 mm, max. 100 mm clear gap; a denser spacing is made on request.

Built to your balcony

The base configuration is a straight section of about 2000 mm at 1100 mm high. We build the railing exactly to your plan:

• any length, corners, returns and angled runs,
• stepped terraces and changes of level,
• post spacing set so the plates land on sound fixing points,
• top fixing on the slab or face fixing to the slab edge,
• long runs split into sections that bolt together on site.

Materials and construction

• Posts, handrail and infill in S235JR steel
• Horizontal infill in square section
• Mounting plates welded to the posts, pre-drilled for anchors
• Fully welded joints, ground before finishing

Finish

For balconies exposed to rain we recommend hot-dip galvanising, which protects the steel inside the sections too, followed by powder coating in the RAL colour of your choice. Matte black RAL 9005 and anthracite are the most popular. The railing can also be left in the raw silver of the zinc.

Anchors are chosen for your slab and floor build-up. Exact dimensions and colour are confirmed before fabrication.
