Glass held in a profile, not in clamps

There are two honest ways to hold a pane in a guard: point clamps bolted through holes drilled in the glass, or a profile that grips the whole edge. The profile gives a cleaner face, with no visible fixings, no drilled holes and nothing standing proud of the glass. The load is spread along the edge instead of into a few points.

Glass and safety

The standard pane is 13.52 mm laminated safety glass: two 6 mm heat-strengthened panes with a 1.52 mm PVB interlayer, held on all four edges. Where the pane size or the rules of your country call for more, we use thicker glass. The balcony is designed to the EN 1991-1-1 line loads with the national annex of your country, and a project calculation for building control is available on request. If your designer or installer has specified a particular build-up, send it and we fabricate to it.

Handrail and top edge

The top edge is finished with a flat 40 x 20 mm steel capping as standard, or a Ø 42.4 mm round handrail on request. We agree it with you so the balcony suits your windows and facade.

Where it works

A French balcony is the natural answer for floor-to-ceiling windows and balcony doors without a balcony slab: in new apartments, renovated townhouses and homes where you want to open a full-height window without bars across the view.

Made to your opening

The reference size is 1500 mm wide and 1100 mm high. Every balcony is made to the real opening: send the clear width between the reveals and the required guard height, which differs between countries.
