The horizontal look, fixed to the face of the wall

Horizontal profiles have become the signature line of modern facades, and this French balcony brings that line to a floor-to-ceiling window or French door. Wide 80 x 20 x 2 mm rectangular profiles run between two slim vertical posts, so the guard reads as a few strong horizontal strokes rather than a fence of bars. From the street it looks light and architectural; from inside the room it keeps the view open.

This is the face-mounted version. The posts sit on the outside of the wall, in front of the opening, and are anchored through fixing plates into the masonry or concrete behind the render. It is the straightforward choice for walls without a thick insulation layer, and it leaves the window reveal and sill untouched.

Made to measure for your opening

Every guard is welded to the measured opening, so it sits square and centred on the window rather than being cut from a standard length. We adapt:

• width and height to your opening and the guard height that applies to your building,
• the number of horizontal profiles and the gaps between them,
• the post position and the projection from the wall,
• the fixing pattern, matched to the wall material.

Materials and construction

• Horizontal infill in 80 x 20 x 2 mm rectangular profile
• Vertical posts with welded fixing plates
• Fully welded frame, ground clean at the joints
• Steel, or welded aluminium for a lighter, rust-free guard
• Anchors selected for concrete, brick or block

Finish

Steel guards are hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated or wet-painted in the RAL colour of your choice, a finish built for years of rain and frost on an exposed facade. Aluminium needs no galvanising and is powder-coated or wet-painted in the same range. Anthracite RAL 7016 and matte black RAL 9005 suit most window frames.
