Loft Bed with Desk and Rounded Guard Rail

A loft bed turns one floor area into two rooms. This version is made to feel light in a bright room: a white welded steel frame, a pale wooden desk top underneath and a guard rail in round tube with softly curved corners around the whole platform edge, open only at the ladder. Upstairs, the mattress lies on a steel base; downstairs, there is room for a chair, a monitor, books and a lamp.

Low rails between the legs near the floor tie the frame together, so the bed stands rigid without heavy bracing at eye level. The vertical ladder is welded to the front of the frame and takes almost no floor space.

Made to your mattress and ceiling

The standard platform is 1000 x 2060 mm for a 90 x 200 cm mattress up to 150 mm thick, with its top at 1500 mm and the desk top at 730 mm. For another mattress or ceiling, the platform is sized to your mattress and the height to your ceiling, so there is real headroom above the pillow and real legroom at the desk. We agree with you:

• platform size for your mattress,
• platform and desk height for your ceiling and the child's age,
• ladder side and position.

Materials and construction

• Welded steel frame in 60 x 60 x 2 mm square tube
• Steel mattress base, no separate slatted frame to buy
• Guard rail in round tube with curved corners, 350 mm above the bed base on every side, with one 300-400 mm opening at the ladder and gaps of 60-75 mm
• Vertical ladder welded to the frame
• Integrated desk top and low stabilising rails

Finish

Shot-blasted, primed and powder-coated in any RAL colour. White as shown keeps a small room bright; a soft pastel suits a younger child, and black or graphite give the same bed a loft look.

Mattress and bedding are not included; use a mattress up to 150 mm thick. The bed must be fixed to the wall, with the fixing agreed for your wall construction. Not for children under 6.
