A welded double-leaf gate for a wide entrance

The Steel Double-Leaf Driveway Gate is a fully welded swing gate for private driveways. Two leaves hang from steel posts and meet in the centre of the opening, so each leaf stays short and needs less room to swing than one wide leaf. The infill in the main picture is a run of vertical slats: it screens the drive, keeps the line of the boundary calm and still lets light and air through. Vertical slats are the main version of this gate.

Horizontal bands, shown as an additional concept

An additional image in the gallery shows the same gate with a different infill: wide horizontal bands instead of vertical slats. The bands read as a few strong lines running across both leaves, which suits flat modern facades and fences built from horizontal members. The infill is a choice within the same gate:

• vertical slats, as in the main picture,
• horizontal bands in the width and spacing that suit the opening,
• equal leaves or an asymmetric split, for example one narrow and one wide leaf,
• a matching pedestrian gate, priced separately as part of the same set.

Standard specification

The standard gate has two equal leaves for a 3500 mm clear opening and a height of 1500 mm, a frame of 60 x 40 x 3 mm box section and vertical 80 x 20 x 2 mm slats. It hangs on 100 x 100 x 3 mm square steel posts with caps, with two adjustable M20 hinges per leaf, a lock with handle and a drop bolt. Other openings and heights are made to measure. Before production, we agree with you for your entrance:

• the clear opening, the leaf height and the way the leaves swing,
• the spacing of the infill, if you choose horizontal bands,
• the posts and how they are fixed, set in concrete or on base plates,
• any preparation for a drive unit,
• the corrosion protection and the coating system for your location,
• exactly what the set contains.

Finish

Powder coating or wet painting in the RAL colour you choose, with galvanizing available where the site calls for extra protection. The corrosion protection and the coating system for the way the gate will be used, and the RAL colour, are agreed with you by email before production. Anthracite and deep black are the usual choices.
