Floating Steel Bed Frame

A bed that seems to float

The Floating Steel Bed Frame takes the legs out of sight. The platform, a welded steel rim around the mattress, rests on a base set well back under it, about 200 mm in from every edge. From the room you see only the rim and a dark shadow gap about 150 mm high beneath it, so the bed seems to hover above the floor. It has no headboard of its own and goes well with an upholstered wall panel or a bare wall, and with our Loft Bedside Table in steel and oak.

The base stands on six adjustable levelling feet hidden in the shadow, and every joint of the frame is welded. We do not publish a load figure for it: we give you the load the frame is designed for before production. Do not stand or jump on the rim.

Standard size and made to measure

The standard frame is 1700 x 2100 mm outside for a 160 x 200 cm mattress and 250 mm high to the top of the rim. Every bed is welded to order, so you can also choose:

• any mattress width from 90 to 200 cm or a non-standard length; on narrower beds the base sits less far in
• another rim height or shadow gap
• a welded channel under the rim for an LED strip you supply; lighting is not included

Materials and construction

• Rim: steel rectangular tube 100 x 40 x 2 mm, welded all round
• Centre rail along the bed and cross members: steel tube 60 x 40 x 2 mm; every bed from 120 cm mattress width has the centre rail
• Deck: curved wooden slats in flexible holders, in two sets on the centre rail (one set below 120 cm width), about 50 mm below the top of the rim, so the mattress sits inside the frame
• Recessed base: welded square steel tube 40 x 40 x 2 mm, about 200 mm in from every edge
• Six adjustable levelling feet with floor protectors

Finish

The steel is powder coated in one RAL colour of your choice; matt black (RAL 9005) as in the pictures is the house standard. Textured or metallic powder coats are options priced in a quotation.

The price shown is for the standard version described here, with the steel powder coated in one RAL colour of your choice, which you name in the order comment at checkout; other sizes, materials, special finishes and options are priced in a quotation. An order placed in the shop commits you to pay once we have confirmed it. We confirm your order within 2 working days without changing the price or the delivery cost, and you pay by bank transfer after our confirmation. Lead time and delivery

Each bed is welded to order. Products ordered in the shop are ready for collection within 7 weeks of your order, or delivered in Poland, Spain, Italy or the United Kingdom, or by courier in Germany, within 9 weeks, if our order confirmation reaches you by the end of the second working day after your order and you pay within 7 days of receiving it; if it reaches you later, these times run from the day your payment arrives.Collect your order free of charge from our workshop in Piotrowice, or choose delivery in Poland, Spain, Italy or the United Kingdom at the flat rate shown at checkout (for the UK, import VAT and duty are paid on arrival); delivery to other countries is by quotation.
