How wide should a driveway gate be?

Question published Answer published 41 views
Our swing gates come in a standard width of 3500 mm and the sliding gate with a 4000 mm clear opening, and any other width is made to measure. The right clear opening follows from the entrance itself: how much room you have between the posts, whether you turn in straight or from a narrow street, and which vehicles use the drive, from a car to a van or a trailer. The gate type matters too, since a double swing, a single swing and a sliding gate need different space around the opening. Send the measurements of the opening and a photo of the approach, and we suggest a width and a gate type for that entrance.
