Loft Bookcase in Steel and Oak

Two steel frames, five oak shelves

The Loft Bookcase in Steel and Oak is drawn with few lines: two tall, narrow steel frames standing on edge and five solid oak shelves running between them. The frames show their slim 40 mm face to the room, so the bookcase looks light while the oak carries the weight of books, records and plants.

It differs from our Industrial Steel Shelving Unit, which uses angle-profile ladders and an X brace at the back: here the sides are closed frames and the back stays open.

Standard size and made to measure

The standard bookcase is 900 mm wide, 350 mm deep and 2000 mm high with five shelves. Every bookcase is made to order, so you can also choose:

• another width, depth or height, for an alcove or a whole wall
• more shelves, or other shelf spacing
• the narrow version, the Narrow Loft Bookcase in Steel and Oak

Materials and construction

• Side frames: rectangular steel profile 60 x 40 x 2 mm, welded closed
• Two rear tie bars, top and bottom, keep the frames square
• Shelves: solid oak, 30 mm, oiled, resting on welded brackets and screwed from below
• Adjustable feet for uneven floors
• Frame welded in one piece; the shelves go in on site

Finish

The steel is powder coated in one RAL colour of your choice; matt black (RAL 9005) as in the pictures is the house standard. Textured or metallic powder coats are options priced in a quotation. The oak is oiled, which brings out the grain and is easy to refresh years later.

Fixed to the wall

A tall shelving unit must be fixed to the wall. Two flat brackets are welded to the back of the top rail, and we supply anchors to suit the wall you name in your order: masonry, concrete or a timber stud wall. Fix it before you load the shelves, and load the lower shelves with the heaviest things.

Order the standard version at the price shown, or ask for a quotation for your own dimensions and finish. The price shown is for the standard version described here, with the steel powder coated in one RAL colour of your choice, which you name in the order comment at checkout; other sizes, materials, special finishes and options are priced in a quotation. An order placed in the shop commits you to pay once we have confirmed it. We confirm your order within 2 working days without changing the price or the delivery cost, and you pay by bank transfer after our confirmation. Lead time and delivery

Each bookcase is made to order. Products ordered in the shop are ready for collection within 7 weeks of your order, or delivered in Poland, Spain, Italy or the United Kingdom, or by courier in Germany, within 9 weeks, if our order confirmation reaches you by the end of the second working day after your order and you pay within 7 days of receiving it; if it reaches you later, these times run from the day your payment arrives.Collect your order free of charge from our workshop in Piotrowice, or choose delivery in Poland, Spain, Italy or the United Kingdom at the flat rate shown at checkout (for the UK, import VAT and duty are paid on arrival); delivery to other countries is by quotation.
