How do I measure a curved steel handrail?
For a curve on plan, such as around a round landing, trace the edge onto a cardboard or plywood template, or measure the chord and the rise of the arc. For a turning staircase, give us the rise and going of each step, the width of the flight and the radius at the handrail centre line, plus photos from several angles. We roll handrails from round tube to follow the exact curve, just as on our spiral staircases, with no segmented kinks. Use the curved-railing survey guide.
