What is the best steel for a fire pit?

Question published Answer published 33 views
The best choice is hot-rolled structural carbon steel, which is what we weld our fire pits from: grade S235JR. Bare steel develops an even, dark brown patina that needs no care, and if you prefer a uniform matt look from day one, choose the heat-resistant black finish. On surfaces in contact with the fire we use only a high-temperature finish made to withstand the burn zone. Compare outdoor steel finishes.
