Hanging Daybed Swing in Steel

A bed that hangs and sways

The Hanging Daybed Swing turns a covered porch, a pergola or a loft ceiling into a place to lie down and rock gently. It is a steel bed platform with no frame of its own: four chains carry it from four anchor points above its corners, in structural beams or joists. A back rail and two short side rails keep the pillows in place, and the front stays open.

We do not publish a load figure for it: the suspension points are set for your ceiling or structure by your builder. Give the place where it will hang and the ceiling height in the order comment at checkout: the order drawing states the platform weight, the positions of the four anchor points and the swing path, so your builder or structural engineer can check the beams before it goes up.

Standard size and made to measure

The standard platform is 2080 mm long and 980 mm deep, with rails 400 mm high, and takes one 90 x 200 cm mattress. Every bed is welded to order, so you can also choose:

• chain lengths cut to your ceiling height and the deck height you want
• another rail height, or a back rail only
• a fitted outdoor mattress, sold as a separate product

Materials and construction

• Frame: steel box section 60 x 40 x 3 mm with a lengthwise centre rail
• Deck: 18 flat-bar slats 40 x 6 mm across the frame, for one 90 x 200 cm mattress
• Rails: square steel tube 40 x 40 x 2 mm, 400 mm high, along the back and at both ends
• Four lifting eyes welded to the corners of the frame
• Four hot-dip galvanised chains with a stated working load, with shackles and swivels marked with their working load

Finish

The steel is shot-blasted and powder-coated or wet-painted in one RAL colour of your choice; matt black (RAL 9005) as in the pictures and anthracite (RAL 7016) are our house standards. Textured or metallic powder coats and, for a coastal or very exposed site, hot-dip galvanising before the chosen topcoat are options priced in a quotation.

Hanging it safely

Hang the bed from four anchor points, one above each corner so the chains hang straight down and the bed stays level, in structural beams or joists that your builder or structural engineer has checked for the swinging load; never from a single point, ceiling boards, plasterboard or a roof covering. The beam anchors are not included, because they depend on the beams: your builder chooses and fits them. Keep the swing path shown on the order drawing clear of walls, posts and furniture.

The price shown is for the standard version described here, with the steel powder-coated or wet-painted in one RAL colour of your choice, which you name in the order comment at checkout; other sizes, materials, special finishes and options are priced in a quotation. Lead time and delivery

Each bed is welded to order. Products ordered in the shop are ready for collection within 7 weeks of your order, or delivered in Poland, Spain, Italy or the United Kingdom, or by courier in Germany, within 9 weeks, if our order confirmation reaches you by the end of the second working day after your order and you pay within 7 days of receiving it; if it reaches you later, these times run from the day your payment arrives.Collect your order free of charge from our workshop in Piotrowice, or choose delivery in Poland, Spain, Italy or the United Kingdom at the flat rate shown at checkout (for the UK, import VAT and duty are paid on arrival); delivery to other countries is by quotation.
